My show-jumping future :-)
I admit it – last weekend I enjoyed a somewhat different kind of horsepower when I went to a car race with Gert-Jan and my father. That was also nice! And now I can also make use of the event-free weekend and inform you about “my” future offspring. Next year, we expect six foals, four thereof by Ingmar!! I’m just totally convinced of this stud’s qualities and the offspring we have seen.
One of his sons really surprised me recently. We had taken all foals back to the stable and built a wall of bales of straw to give them an anthelmintic treatment. And what does Ingmar jr. do? He simply jumps over two bales of straw, about one metre high. I was totally flabbergasted. When we let the foals out of the stable again, he made another jump, very elegantly, of about 60cm over some weed. 10cm to the left or right he could just as well have walked around this “obstacle”! He obviously likes jumping!
And now about the expectant mothers:
La Bonita is once again pregnant by Ingmar. It is the first time that I have chosen the same couple, as it were, but their foal this year was simply superb.
Coriana is also pregnant by Ingmar. Last year she wasn’t pregnant at all, so this year we started very early with her and – lo’ and behold – it was bull’s eye at the very first try. So she will give birth rather early, at the end of March, we think.
Cathleen still has her foal by Arpeggio, but next year she will also get an Ingmar jr.And Cigalla is the fourth mare pregnant by Ingmar.
Izabalia is pregnant by the Carthago-son Cathino, our neighbours’ stud. I have seen many of his offspring at events here in the region- very convincing. And Cathino is from Primeval Wings’ mother’s side. So we know both sides’ competitiveness.
And Eburovic is pregnant by Stakkato-son Spartacus. Spartacus is at the Nijhof stable, a colleague, if you will, of Ingmar’s.Sandy did not get pregnant, sadly, but next year she might. All in all, I’m very excited and look forward to raising or seeing the little ones. They will be a good bunch, I’m sure!!
