Let’s roll
Last week was a tough one. I rather prefer harmony, but when it comes to my horses I have to admit that I’m very tough-minded. They have to be well looked after, period! Unfortunately, Miranda, my stablehand, and I had rather different ideas of what being “well looked after” might mean. Therefore, I decided to terminate her employment. So now I’m again looking for a new stablehand, either male or female, for whom horses are just as much at the forefront as they are for me. I know that this isn’t going to be easy, but I also know that there are people out there who love horses as much as I do – and those are the ones I hope to find!
Over the weekend, I attended the competition in Weerselo (NED). Casillia jumped really well, but Clio and Camena were not in any good condition whatsoever. I didn’t even ride the other horses. The ground was muddy all over; it had rained so much. At places, it even was slippery, which made the horses feel rather unsafe. It wouldn’t have made much sense to continue.
Still, there was something positive that occurred last week. We got our building permit!!! At last! While all building permits come with a six-week period for objection, we can start right after that will have expired. Unbelievable – after so much time and so many obstacles we had to overcome. Gert-Jan is totally beside himself with joy and very glad. So am I, but I have to admit that it’s also quite a funny feeling: Like I no longer trust our own determination. It is, after all, quite a project...
Well, no matter - let’s roll!
